Events API for On-Demand Platforms

Multiple data streams in just one API

The on-demand economy is a relatively new way to do business, but it’s one that’s proving increasingly popular. Time-poor people order transport, food delivery, groceries or products online or via mobile apps, then sit back and relax as they wait for their pickup or delivery. The likes of Uber and Lyft get people from A to B quickly. Uber Eats enables diners to enjoy the best food in town from the comfort of their own home. And if you can think it, Postmates delivers it.

For these on-demand businesses, a little foresight could go a long way. In fact, the ability to know when demand might spike or service disruptions could occur, depending on future scheduled and unscheduled events could give business owners an edge over the rest. That’s where PredictHQ’s API comes in. PredictHQ collates and aggregates local, national and international events into one handy place, so you know what events are happening and when, and can plan accordingly. Want to do more with our data? Download and store our events, so you can carry out data modeling and analysis and improve demand forecasting accuracy.

Ranked Events

Not sure what events matter most? Don’t worry - we’ve sorted them for you

Wish you could predict what events could impact your on-demand business? PredictHQ is committed to doing the hard yards for you. We give you access to millions of scheduled and unscheduled global events that could impact your bottom line, across 18 categories - and counting. Our API enables you to find relevant events with a simple REST call, so you can display them in your application. Our super-smart ranking algorithm that we created assigns a numerical rank to every single event, so you can filter from major to minor events and see at a glance which ones you should pay careful attention to.

This basically means, if you can think of an event that might impact your bottom line, PredictHQ can help you make the most of it. Friday night thunder storms might mean that hungry patrons are more likely to order food to be delivered than on other nights. Taylor Swift and her squad might be in town, so more people might want to get from A to B to see her live in concert. The holiday season might be on the horizon, and frantic homeowners might not have time to stock up on groceries themselves. PredictHQ helps you make the most of increased demand while reducing operational costs in the process, enabling businesses of all sizes to optimise their yield and see revenue growth like never before.

Making Flat Event Data Intelligent

One pitfall of the on-demand economy could be that, because users expect to get what they want immediately, if they can’t, they could go elsewhere. PredictHQ’s ability to source scheduled and unscheduled events in a programmatic way enables on-demand businesses to know when demand might spike, and therefore plan operations accordingly by ensuring they have more hands on deck to service that increase or mitigate lulls in demand. We pull multiple data streams and third party APIs into one intuitive information source (we even do it manually when we have to), so all the event information that could impact your business can be found in one handy place. Lookup events by searching within a geographical radius, using IATA codes or geographical place names. You can query multiple categories and locations at the same time, and get JSON responses. Our data can be integrated with any platform, and to make integrations even easier PredictHQ currently has Python and JavaScript SDKs available too. We use the OAuth 2.0 standard for authentication, and access tokens are required to grant application access to the tools available in the API. Developers won’t need to spend precious time capturing, cleaning and maintaining disparate data sources because we do it for them, plus our API is versioned for easier maintenance.
