Use the Features API to track demand surges near you

Integrating demand intelligence into your models often requires significant developer and data science resources and time–until our Features API. Launched in 2021, you can think of it as a library of ready-to-use features for your models, so your team can start getting value out of our demand intelligence immediately.

The Features API enables teams to unlock new insights and start improving their demand planning and forecasting quickly. One feature in particular that has gotten many of our customers excited enables you to quickly identify demand surges.

Easily find and plan for incoming surges in demand

One of the most popular features in our Features API gives customers the ability to track peaks in event activity in an area, also known as a demand surge. A demand surge is a significantly higher-than-usual spike in the number of people attending events within a given location. Demand surges form when there are many events overlapping on the same day(s), or when there are multiple high-impact events drawing in attendees from far away. They can also occur when there is one large event that is compounded by several mid-tier events that are easy to miss without the right data.

With insights into exactly when and where to predict a surge in footfall, you can schedule enough staff and stock enough of the right products to make the most of each of these opportunities.

Use the Features API to scan and identify potential surge or outlier dates by looking at the total daily attendance of Attended Events. If one or more surge dates are identified, the total daily attendance and examples of top events are returned per date. Running the notebook is simple and only requires a location, date range and Access Token.

Our team would be happy to meet with you to help you learn more about the Features API. Speak to one of our team members today to explore how to leverage features for clarity around incoming business demand.
